Tensile Integrity
Our bodies are tensegrity structures of bone, muscle and connective tissue, finely laced with nourishing vessels and animating nerves. In this complexity, getting to the root cause of dysfunction and pain can be an elusive goal. We find that success hinges on the practitioner’s blend of physical therapy, chiropractic manipulation and myofascial massage techniques.
Initial Exam
- An initial exam is a detailed analysis for determining why a patient experiences pain. The exam may include:
- Musculoskeletal alignment
- Muscle performance, length, strength, stiffness
- Motor control
- Biomechanical influences
- Patterns of movement in specific joints and in the total system
- Soft tissue tensile/compressive integrity evaluation
Typical Treatment
- Massage/Myofascial release techniques: Travell-Simons trigger point work, ART (active release techniques), cranial-sacral, visceral manipulation, etc
- Stretching
- Joint mobilization/manipulation
- Movement re-education
- Exercise
- Modalities such as ice, heat, ultrasound and electrical stimulation
