About Us

Bikestation Palo Alto brings meaning to the term "intermodal transportation" by providing Palo Alto with one of the best examples in the country. Located at the historic Palo Alto Caltrain Depot, Bikestation Palo Alto accommodates 96 bicycles in a double-tier rack. Members can park or retrieve their bikes at any time, not just during staffed hours, using round-the-clock electronic key access. In addition to secure bike parking, amenities include commuter and recreational rentals, bike repairs, basic bicycle accessory sales, changing room and an outdoor seating area with concessions.

The Palo Alto Caltrain depot is a central hub for the Caltrain commuter train line, SamTrans bus lines, Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) bus lines, Dumbarton Express, as well as Stanford University's Marguerite shuttle. The Bikestation facility is located on the North side of the Depot on the train boarding platform, adjacent to the bus loading/unloading area.

Caltrain has the highest number of bicycle boardings in the nation. In fact, the high demand for bicycle storage on the train has resulted in many riders being "bumped" from the train due to lack of space. Bikestation Palo Alto helps to address this problem by allowing commuters to park their bicycles in a secure indoor location and retrieve them upon departure from Caltrain to continue their commute to their final destinations. As a result, approximately 80% of Bikestation Palo Alto users park their bicycle overnight at the facility.
